Urna Biswas December 18, 2020

‘On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
A partridge in a pear tree…’

We all know the song about the 12 Days of Christmas and the amazing gifts for each day, don’t we? But you don’t have to come up with 12 gifts to make someone’s Christmas equally magical – you can do that just by a simple act of kindness! BLESSINGS IN A BAG

This is one of our favorite ways to spread kindness. With your kids’ help, assemble blessing bags for the homeless – bags filled with items that are useful for people less fortunate than ourselves. These can be filled with various things such as warm hats, scarves, candy, cough drops, cookies, tissue packs, or gift cards. Ask your children to include a handwritten note or a homemade card with a warm Christmassy message inside. You can drop the bags off at a shelter that helps the homeless or at your local charity. Talk about bagging some cheer!

FILL UP THE FOOD BANK

cute clothing stores for toddlers

For many of us, the holiday season means feasting with friends and family to our heart’s content. But what really fills our spirit is sharing the love. Help others have an equally satisfying Christmas by donating food to a food bank. Have a talk with your children about why certain people might need to use a food bank, and then go shopping together. Let the kids pick out the items. Pick up a combination of healthy foods together with a few treats as well, and drop them off at the food bank. Food for the soul, did you say?

CANDY CANE SURPRISES

This is such a cool and fun way to spread festive joy! Help your kids make a bunch of small Christmas cards with cheerful messages inside. Attach these notes to individual candy canes. Take a stroll through your neighborhood or local car parks, and put the candy canes on random car windshields for people to discover and delight in! You can even leave them on your neighborhood doorsteps, porches or gardens. A sweet, simple act that has smiles guaranteed.

HELPING OUR HELPERS

The holidays are something we all look forward –time off work and school, to laze around and spend as we wish. But is everyone so lucky? Not quite. There are several people working tirelessly through the festive season to ensure that we have our good times. Places like restaurants, several convenience stores and drugstores, movie theatres, hospitals etc are up and running. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing to do something to show our appreciation for these hardworking folks? You could ask your children to put together a few little goodie bags with candy, cookies, or gift cards inside, along with a Merry Christmas greeting. Hand these out to unsuspecting people on the job and watch their faces light up!

Here’s a list of sweet and simple Christmas greetings you will love:

JUST TAKE A LOOK AROUND YOU

trendy dresses for girls online

We may not always notice it, but it’s the people around us who may need a helping hand the most. Maybe it’s the new mom next door who would welcome a few home-cooked frozen meals to pop into the microwave when she has no time to cook. Or maybe it’s your best friend with young kids, who would love you to babysit for a couple of hours while she catches up on her Christmas shopping. Got elderly neighbors? Give them some unbaked cookies. Whip up the dough, roll it into balls, and freeze them in a container, so they can be baked at any time. Just look around you and you’ll see so many opportunities to help!

The holidays are full of wonder –family repasts, twinkling lights, cheerful music, but above all, it’s about showing kindness to our fellow humans. And it’s important for us to teach our children that there’s more to Christmas than just lights and presents. Amidst shopping for the latest kids wear for girls and boys from your favorite toddler clothes online boutique thedatingmaven, take some time out to make the world a little bit kinder, a little more caring, with these amazingly simple acts of selflessness.
