IT’S SLIME TIME!

Halloween means all things slithery and slimy – so what better Halloween activity for your toddler than creating this supercool pumpkin slime! Your little one will be fascinated by this light, fluffy slime that's way more fun than Play-Doh. It's perfect for those little fingers and comes together quickly with simple ingredients.

You Need:

• 1/2 Cup White Glue
• Unscented Shaving Cream
• Orange Food Coloring
• Mason Jar
• Black Construction Paper
• Scissors
• Saline Contact Solution
• Baking Soda

 How to Make:

• Mix 1/2 cup of white school glue and 4 cups of shaving cream with some drops of orange food coloring.
• Stir in 1/4 tsp of Baking Soda. Add contact solution a tablespoon at a time and mix.
• Keep adding contact solution and mixing until your slime begins forming into a ball-like form. It will become less sticky, coming off the sides of your container and sticking together.
• Once the slime takes on a fluffy marshmallow consistency, it’s ready to play with!

When you’re finished, store your slime in an airtight container. This can be a super fun family activity, and perfect for a Halloween party too!

FOGGY WITCHES’ BREW

Your kiddo is totally geared up to stuff themselves with all those trick-and-treating goodies, right? But we believe that Halloween should go way beyond just candy. How about whipping up these spooky foggy drinks to thrill and chill your little one? It’s easier than you think!

You Need:

• Colorful drinks like Gatorade or Kool-Aid
• Gummy worms
• Dry ice
• Tongs & gloves to handle the dry ice

 How to Make:

• Fill some clear glasses with brightly colored drinks in green, orange or red. Any drink or punch will work.
• Add gummy worms, or other candy creepy crawlies, to the edge of the glass for an extra spooky effect.
• The final ingredient for your foggy witch’s brew is to add in a few small pieces of dry ice.
• Watch your toddler’s eyes grow wide with amazed glee at what you have just created!

Make sure you use tongs to handle the dry ice, and gloves if you must pick it up with your hands. You can even use beakers to create a Mad Scientist Potion. Cool, right?

HALLOWEEN SENSORY BAGS

These Halloween-themed sensory bags are a super way for your toddler to explore play materials.  They’re loads of fun to play with, and there’s no mess to clean up afterwards!

Here we tell you how to make two of our favorite sensory bags, but let your imagination go wild and you can come up with variations of your own!

Melting Witch

You Need:

• 1 zip-seal bag
• 1 bottle of clear hair gel 
• Squishy eyeballs
• Black yarn
• A witch finger or nose
• A small witch hat
• Green food coloring
• Clear tape

How to Make:

• Pour the hair gel into a large zip-seal bag with a few drops of green food coloring.
• Add the witch parts.
• Tightly seal the bag, and then tape over the opening with clear tape. It’s play time!

Your toddler will love squishing the witch to make her green, and squishing all the parts around to form witch faces. Each time they’re finished making the face, you can squish the bag and mix up all of the parts so that they can do it again.

Goblin Guts

You Need:

• Zip-seal bag
• Cooked spaghetti noodles
• Green food coloring
• Eye balls, spiders, snakes etc
• Clear hair gel
• Clear tape

How to Make:

1. Mix 1 cup of cooked spaghetti noodles with several drops of green food coloring and allow them to dry.
2. Once dry, mix the green spaghetti with the other materials in a zip-seal bag.  Seal the bag tightly, and then secure it with clear tape. Let your kid swish the bag around and make the most ridiculous ‘guts’!
3. You can store the "goblin guts" in the refrigerator, and use them up to 3 days.

GHOST ROCKETS THAT ACTUALLY FLY!

We know Halloween is a holiday, but that doesn’t mean it can be instructive for our kiddos too, right? So get your little one excited about science with this bit of Halloween fun.  You only need a few items, and the children will think you’re a magician!  Ready for "take-off"?

 You Need:

• Film canisters
• Corn starch
• Water
• Black marker
• Alka seltzer
• Stir stick

How to Make:

• Draw spooky ghost faces on clear film canisters with a marker.  
• Once the marker is dry, add 2-3 teaspoons of corn starch to each film canister.
• Now fill the canisters 1/3 of the way with warm water and stir until the corn starch is dissolved and the ingredients are combined. 
• Take a piece of Alka seltzer and break it into 2-3 pieces.
• Drop the pieces into the canister, put the lid on, flip the rocket over, set it down, and step back. The ghost rocket will almost immediately go flying high into the air!
• Set off one ghost rocket at a time and let your toddler marvel at the force of science propelling them!

EASY BAT CRAFT

This super easy Halloween bat is so much fun to make. And it’s the perfect quick Halloween craft for busy families too!

You Need:

• Black paper
• Googly eyes
• Scissors
• Clothes pins
• Silver & black sharpies or crayons
• Glue

How to Make:

• Help your child color the clothespin with the black crayon.
• Cut out some bat wings and a bat head.
• Decorate the wings with the silver sharpie/ crayon.
• Help your little one glue eyes on the head. Great fine motor skill practice!
• Stick the wings and the head on the clothespin. Let dry and display!
